Thank you so much, Diamond Book Distributors, for sending me a free copy of this graphic novel!

The art was great and the writing style as well, but it just wasn't my cup of tea.

If I had one complaint about this, it's that I wish it was an entire series. This is my first foray into anything Valiant, so I'm new to the characters and universe. If this is a taste of everything else, I'll definitely explore more of what they have to offer.

A truly sensational book from beginning to end. A friend of mine, who is obsessed with the Valiant universe to the point of extremism, steadily proselytized this series until eventually, I grabbed a copy of Archer & Armstrong and since then I've been a convert. I adore the Valiant universe. Thus when we read this book for the graphic novel book-club I'm a part of I was excited and ecstatic.

I really wasn't prepared for how good this book was. Normally Superhero-crossover-events tend to be tepid affairs that are more exercises in capitalism than art, but this short book manages to be more. This is a story of so many characters and people including the forces of life and death, fear and love, and the connection between groups of people. Any reader whether they like character development, action, supernatural, horror, or thriller elements is sure to find something in this book to enjoy.

The Valiant is a must-read, not to mention a great place for new readers to hop into a comics universe.

Despite the ending being so open-ended (we need more Kay in our lives!), Lemire again offers a solid, complex read. I would gladly read more storylines on Gilad and the Geomancer.

Wow! This is the first thing I have read in the Valiant universe and I'm hooked! I picked up 5 omnibus books from the Valiant stand at Buffalo Comicon to get a cross-section of their various superheros and I think I have found a new obsession. I love DC and Marvel, but this was something new and refreshing.

The Valiant has a lot of action and many people with super powers. The story never really coalesces, though. The pacing is a bit odd; the story takes its time in the beginning, but in the end, when very important things are happening towards the end, it rushes through everything. The plot twists are good and the action keeps the story rolling, but I somehow expected more. The art is great. The ending was confusing, as it wasn't clear what really happened. Also, if something is repeatedly called immortal, what does its destruction for all time look like? Was it not immortal, then?

This was so jumbled and I had such a hard time figuring out what was going on that I don't think I'm going to continue with this one. I had to read the panels multiple times to get character names and the minuscule amount of plot that was put into them. The artwork is really great but it is too hard to figure out what is happening to really enjoy this one.

You may not care about these characters, but you will. Valiant is doing good stuff with their properties that I last paid attention to in the 90s; they're effortlessly changing what doesn't work while keeping the core characteristics of their people and their universe and relentlessly infusing every story I've read so far with this sort of ambiguous melancholy that makes things feel a little bleak - good for a world that needs heroes. If Marvel's heroes are adventurers and DC's crusaders, then these folks are journeymen - Heroes As a Job. They are what they do. Obviously, I enjoyed this little 4 issue crossover event (with its heavy focus on the Eternal Warrior and Bloodshot) and plan on getting more of these (low-priced, another thing they're doing right) collections from the revitalized Valiant.
