judging for what it is -- a lighthearted whimsical comic -- it's pretty good. as the first of the series it has to set the scene, introduce the characters AND have a bit of adventure/mischief, which it manages to do in just under 50 pages; most modern ongoing comics nowadays take a whole volume to get this amount of "plot" in. (plot in quotes because i don't think this series will be concerned with an actual overarching plot.) it was even funny enough to make me exhale out of my nose a few times. also, the art is great.
only part i didn't like was the ending. they already outsmarted the romans and got hold of the magic potion, couldn't they have just beat them all up or run away? why did ceasar need to let them go? i get it was probably to introduce ceasar as a character but probably could've been done better.

This brought back so many childhood memories, I think I might have to read all of them now!
