I am a huge fan of the fever series. I also loved Iced, I was perfectly happy with getting to read Dani's story, even though she wasn't an adult yet. But then it feels like Ms Moning had to change her original plan and come up with a story where Dani grows up quick, so boom we have Burned, and now we have Feverborn.
I was hoping that with this one she would get back to telling us an amazing story, but sadly there was very little progression. A lot of characters, which btw makes it hard to tell who's point of view you are reading when you start a chapter, but not a lot of progress in the story.
Some interesting insights into Dani's psyche and her time in the Silvers, but even that is very little information. Barely any interaction between her and Ryordan or Dancer.
As far as Mac and Barron, it is same old. Mac goes crazy, they have sex, and she is healed by his magic penis.
Some things happen to other characters but the sheer amount of characters makes it hard to seem like real progress is being made.
The main plot/quest of the book is barely mentioned and is kind of forgotten with all the other drama.
All in all I loved this series at its start. After the first five books I was happy with that being the end of Mac and Barron as the lead characters, and getting to see the world and relationships evolving through other people's eyes. I am dying to see what happens to the nine, to see their stories past and present. But it feels that after Iced that might not be the case anymore. Feverborn was a medley of characters with very little progression story wise and after having waited so long since Iced it just felt like a huge dissapointment.
Update: I originally wrote this update back when Feverborn came out, now we know that the next book coming out in 2018 is about Dani and that moving on it will be with new main characters. Still feel like we could have arrived there earlier, but content with finally getting other character’s stories.

2.5 starts from me for Feverborn
At first it was the change in narrators that threw me off. I was partial to the voices of Phil and Natalie. Luke grew on me after a while, but I never got comfortable with his Barrons or Ryodan. I liked Jill's voice. I'd say it was even more authentic for Mac since Mac grew up in Georgia. She's supposed to have a southern twang.
There were scenes in this book I loved.
But in spite of the many scenes that I liked, the majority of the book didn't meet up to my expectations. I felt like I lived in Mac's head for the week it took me to listen to the narration. As much as I adore Mac, a week in her head was just too much.
My biggest complaints are 1. There wasn't enough action in this book. It consisted of far too much internal dialogue. and 2. I'm not a fan of the continuing relationship between Mac and Barrons. I just don't like where it went. I wanted it to be more intimate, more emotionally ferocious and much more further along than what it was in this book.
It's tough when expectations for an author are so high. It is my least favorite of the series, but I wonder if I wouldn't have rated it higher if I hadn't been expecting another knock my socks off grand adventure from KMM.
This book did leave me with a curious feeling that the time Dani spent in the Silvers might develop into a pretty excellent YA spin off.
I guess we'll see where Ms. Moning takes us. Wherever it is, I'm willing to follow along.

Spoiler
Ryodan and Jada's kiss. Ryodan tatooing Jada. Dancer's speech about Jada/Dani and his scene with friends at the college. In fact, Dancer may have been my favorite character in the story even though he played very small parts in it. By far the most emotional and shocking scene was the Shazam reveal after the fire. I FELT that part. Ryodan's sacrifice was heartbreaking. But in spite of the many scenes that I liked, the majority of the book didn't meet up to my expectations. So freaking Amazing! So many emotions. I was consumed with the feels throughout this book. I will not ruin anything. So let me just say Holy Crap, Hellz Yeah, Are you kidding me, Bless her heart, FINALLY, and NOOOOOOO!!
Last forty pages were the only ones worth reading. Two stars for Shazam, the best element of this boring, horrendously written, semi-plagiarizing piece of shit (I see you, Avatar + random gratuitous wildfire abuse ala Game of Thrones). Zero stars for Mac, a character I used to adore and respect. Barrons and the rest of the alpha douches have simply become a bunch of parodies. Truly pathetic. Seriously, just read the last max 50 pages, you will feel like it picks up where the fifth book left off. This series needs to just end.

They really left it there? If this was a tv show, this season finale would have killed everyone. LOL. But now we have to wait a year to find out what's going to happen. So. Many. Unanswered. Questions. Feversong can't get here soon enough!

I kinda enjoyed the end but this was mostly a rambly mess of non-sequiturs and nothing. Also, cliffhangers shoulda stopped after book 7, when people were literally dangling off cliffs. That is all.
Well I'll say I loved the first series of five books. Starting with Iced, this was supposed to be a spin off series. But since Dani was unpopular and sales not good, publisher wanted author to switch back to Mac and Barrons. Well, she has no real story left. Writing in circles. Informing the reader of stuff that already was read. Nothing happens till 70%. Then we are left on cliffhanger. I paid 14$ to reread what I already knew. So, advice....wait till your library gets it.
