I actually bought this mistake - clicking the wrong button on Amazon - but after a moment's hesitation, I decided to keep it and read it. And I'm very glad I did! My only critique is that it's far too short, and I hope there will someday be a sequel. But this is a lovely, quick story of magic and sisterhood and what makes a family, with a subtle dash of feminism/girl power woven in. Definitely recommended!

A lovely tale of sisters and parents and adoption, and what really makes a family. (spoiler alert: it's not genetics or being all the same.)

A lovely short story about an adoptive family, two dads plus two daughters - and magic and monsters. The twins girls that Matt and Gregory bring home are supposed to be identical, but their differences only grow as they do, out of babyhood and into adolescence. Moira and Mystique fight like any other siblings, but what happens when one of them has extra powers? If the love of their family can survive high school and all the attendant drama, it can survive anything. I had fun with this short story, enjoying the sweet tale of an adoptive family alongside magical moments.
