This was such a sweet, feel-good book. Violet is going through a divorce with her cheating ex, and heads back to Ember Falls where she reconnects with Everett. Violet is definitely going through a lot in the beginning of this book. I really enjoyed watching her get her life back together because she definitely deserved it.

Everett is the biggest green flag love interest ever. There are no flaws. He is so caring and thoughtful when it comes to Violet. These two were just meant to be together. They make such a solid and supportive couple. Their story just made me so happy while I was reading. I loved the moments with Everett’s mom especially and thought those were so sweet.

If you are looking for a feel-good second chance romance definitely check this one out! You will be smiling the whole time you read this book!

Against All Odds is definitely the best book in the Ember Falls series. Violet and Everett’s love for each other is so evident from the off. Their relationship didn’t pan out exactly as I’d expected, especially considering the epilogue from Here & Now. I had assumed that it took at least a few months for them to start talking again, and longer for their relationship to rekindle. Part of me wonders if the plot of their book changed between the writing of Books 2 and 3.

Regardless, I really enjoyed their story. It was tense and heartfelt, warm and infuriating at times. No matter what was thrown at them, their feelings were never in doubt and I always love that.

My intrigue as to who Hazel ends up with is only getting stronger. We know it isn’t Killian so is it this mystery man that was mentioned once at the end of the book? The guy who moved to Ember Falls when he was sixteen and had a crush on Violet? I need to know!

There were a couple of timeline inconsistencies again with this book, which we experienced with Here & Now, but, in general, this book was so much better in terms of writing than its predecessor. It felt like it had been treated with so much care and attention during the writing process, and you can feel the author’s love for her characters in every chapter. I enjoyed it.

This was cute. Everett is my favorite character since Book 1 and it's weird seeing him so serious and so pathetically down bad for Violet. Didnt see him as a words of affirmation king but here we are. Enjoyed this a lot more than the first 2 books.

Second Chance Perfection!

How? How does this series keep getting better?

After Violet finds out in a very public way that her celebrity husband is cheating on her, she heads to Ember Falls to start over. She’s reunited with Everett, her high school sweetheart and now neighbor. I liked that they didn’t just pick up where they left off. Neither have the time to give to a relationship right now. Violet is finally moving on after her divorce, then finds out she’s pregnant with her ex’s baby. Everett is already balancing work and caring for his mother, but he steps up and is there for Violet. Everett is an absolute dream when he does and I enjoyed seeing Violet find herself, her strength, and her worth.

Duet narration by Andi Arndt and Robert Hatchet and boy did they deliver!!! Violet has serious trust issues based on her relationships with her parents and ex. I felt Violet struggling with her past, the prospect of being a single mom, and the lighthearted times with her female friends through Andi’s performance. Robert embodied all facets of Everett. From the compassionate, caring son, the joker and disc golf teammate, and just plain swoony the way he loves Violet. They brought these two to life and I couldn’t stop listening.

I loved everything about this visit to Ember Falls. I am a sucker for a second chance story and I couldn’t get enough of this one. It’s small town with big heart and great characters and no third act break up. I can’t wait for the next in this series.
