I really enjoyed this book. I liked all the characters and found the circumstances that brought them together and united them well written and realistic. What I especially liked was the twist involving David and Meg. I did not anticipate that and usually I am good at guessing what is going to happen next in these type of books. I personally think this is Lisa's best book.

This book had a little too much of everything in it. There was murder, a suicide attempt, rape, car bombings, and kidnappings. There was too much going on and by the time I got to the end of this book, I was so ready for it to be done.

I really like Lisa Gardner but I think she tried too hard with this book. It was just a little too much.

I couldn’t wait to get through the twists and turns of this book to discover what happened. Good book. I’ve never read anything by her before. Rape is very hard for me to read about, so I was grateful it wasn’t in graphic detail. It’s bad enough that it happens in the first place.

5- Stars for the reading. I listened to this on audio with Anna Fields as the narrator, whose voice I adore and who can perform the hell out of a story. She was, as usual, superb. Gruff Fitch was as different from Dreamy Meg who was as different from no-nonsense Jillian etc. So much so that I always knew 'who' was speaking.

4- Stars for the suspense and characters. Loved Griffin the state cop with anger issues (with good reason) especially. And I liked how incredibly twisted the story was.

3- Stars for some plausibility issues. Sorry, but everything fell too neatly in place for the the main villain. I know this person was supposed to be a brilliant manipulator, but the length of time over which the whole plot unfolded, and the number of people involved that needed to be manipulated...there were infinite possibilities for something to not work. There is always an element of chaos and unpredictability in any system. Just one wrong comment, one person acting out of character and poof the whole plan goes. It struck me as too neat. Don't get me wrong the whole thing was utterly diabolical and made for great suspenseful reading. But I am a realist and people don't always act the way they are supposed to.

Also I had a bit of a problem with a major plot point toward the end. A huge piece of the major antagonists' plan rested on one element --public outcry. It was a piece that didn't work for me given who the person was I didn't think the public would react in their favor.

But those were relatively minor issues and really only resonated with me toward the end of what was after all a great listening experience.

I liked this one more than I liked some of her other books, but I still don't particularly like her mysteries. I didn't feel the urge to keep reading it, and there felt as if there was very little suspense.

I liked all the variety of characters however, that she did well, and the past few books I've read, I didn't like any of the characters.

But once more, this was just a mediocre book for me. Nothing that will make me want to read it again. People who are fans of her work however will likely enjoy it.

This was an interesting one. There were parts that were most definitely far-fetched, a trend that I am starting to notice more and more as I get into Lisa Gardner's books. Something else that I am starting to notice, but the book summary on the back of the book was a complete red herring. Jillian is considered a difficult suspect for about five pages before her actions reveal her to be a complicated woman who is trying to come to grips with the sheer unfairness of life. Despite the far-fetched elements, it still kept me on the edge of my seat, and achieved exactly what it was meant to--to be a scary, fun, fluffy read. About rape. Ok, maybe not so fluffy.

Couldn't read the second half fast enough. REALLY pulls you in and gets you thinking. Very good who done it that was not too far fetched. Like that there were mistakes made along the way showing no one is perfect even in fiction. Would recommend.
