I saved Deaver's story from the Amazon Hush collection for last because I had high hopes that I would enjoy this story and I was not disappointed.

Edward "Fitz" Fitzhugh, an old school journalist gets caught up in the hunt for the Gravedigger a (the blurb calls him a serial killer BUT that's not precisely correct
Spoileras none of the victims actually died.
What Fitz discovers makes for a fabulous twist.

I also enjoyed the interplay between Fitz and Dotty. The story is only 80 pages but Deaver managed to fit a whole lot of character interaction and development into it.

Interesting thriller that let's you get the POV of investigator, killer, and victim. Fun idea. Kept me engaged. Played out like a plot of House of Cards which felt a bit done before but still a decent read.

The almost-retired-crime-journalist-detective story isn’t original and it’s unlikely I would be interested in reading as a full book. However, I was really enjoying the first 80 pages or so. The few characters were pretty interesting and I wanted to see resolution and answers to the case. But then the author stopped showing and just told us everything. I guess this really couldn’t fit into a short story. Book 4 of the Kindle Hush collection.

This is a short story in the Amazon Original HUSH collection-6 stories-6 deceptions. Good characters, original plot. Overall very good read.

This was a nice blend of police procedural and political thriller. I liked the twists and how the setting was new media versus traditional when both had a hand in resolving the main plot. Well done.

Buried, by Jeffery Deaver, is the fourth book in the six book collection, Hush, that I've read and it's been my favorite, so far. The Gravedigger is a serial kidnapper who leaves riddles leading to where he has "buried" his victims.  Edward “Fitz” Fitzhugh is at the end of his long career as an investigative reporter, due his age, his health, and the decline of the printed newspaper. But he's going to investigate this last big story, using all his knowledge and skills. Fitz is good and his investigation skills make me think he'd also make a great private detective. This is Fitz's last big break and it will top all his big stories. Great little story that felt big!

This is a Kindle Unlimited selection.

Jeffery Deaver’s Buried is part of Hush, a collection of six stories, ranging from political mysteries to psychological thrillers, in which deception can be a matter of life and death.

I had pretty low expectations for this, lol. Grabbed it bc I needed a free audiobook really quickly before I got in the car. But this surprised me and was really good! Definitely worth the quick read.
