dare i say this is the best rina kent book i’ve read to this date (with god of fury and the rest of this series right behind) this book was the other side of what happened in the cruel king (royal elite series, astrid and levi, the kids are brandon, landon, and glyndon from legacy of gods) nicole is astrid’s step sister and her and daniel has a very tumultuous relationship.

to describe it in tropes would be to say childhood crushes/ememies to enemies ti lovers. there was a big point of contention because of miscommunication and assumptions and daniel being in the middle of astrid and nicole. nicole was raped by chris and astrid saw but didn’t know what was going on and nicole went to go tell daniel what happened and he dismissed her, again not knowing what really happened.

11 years later, chris had had a baby with nicole’s môm (he is 9 now) and nicole got custody, she completely left her family and started working for daniel’s firm and he insisted that she be his assistant. he was so mean and terrible to her because he didn’t really know what happened, it wasn’t until he found out about jayden and nicole’s panic attacks, that when she told him what happened he felt really bad. before all that they were playing the domestic role, living together both taking care of jayden, nicole cooking for him (yall know i love this shit in books).

then he took her back to london and she made up with her step dad and slightly with her step sister. the third act break up was rough (she tried to make him makeup with his family like he did for her but he got extremely mad and tried to leave but got stabbed trying for hurt her rapist and they made up when he was in the hospital) but they got together and it was just wonderful.

i cried so much reading this book because if you are a victim of sexual assault and/or rape, you aren’t alone, and own day you will find the person for you, such a good book omg, i love them as a couple.
