Two years later…. Felt at times like I’d never finish this book. The story is its best while centered around the Galvins- Kolker can get very technical about the science and lost me at (many) times. But at the end of the day he clearly put an enormous amount of effort into telling this story the right way, it truly deserves the 4 stars. Content warning for possibly every single topic you could think of, this poor fuckin family jesus christ

This was super interesting. I had a hard time putting it down. This kind of book makes me want to go into investigative journalism/narrative non-fiction writing someday.

Beginning and end was fast but middle was a bit slow. Over all it was very good for seeing into a mental illness that is so misunderstood in the general public.
