This was a quick and enjoyable read. I like the author's writing style, descriptive without being overly flowery. 

However, I despised the romance between Anna and Sam. They had zero chemistry whatsoever! I felt that Sam was so focused on protecting Anna that he never stopped to ask her what she wanted. He always wanted to make every decision for her. I just don't get what she sees in him. In my opinion, he has no personality. 

The second issue I had with the book were the overly predictable plot twists.
As soon as Dani was introduced, I was immediately skeptical. Why would she show up after all these years and not be upset about seeing her former boyfriend with someone else? I also had a feeling that the file about Sam killing Anna's parents was planted by Dani. I hate to admit it, but I wish the info in the file were true. It would've made a much more compelling story. But somehow, I doubted that this book would bring the stakes that high, and I was correct. When Uncle Will was introduced, I also knew right away that his intentions weren't going to be pure.
There were a lot of stupid decisions made to further the plot. Like, "This is a dumb idea and goes against our training, but we're gonna do it anyways!" It cheapened the story. This book could easily be five stars with more fleshed-out characters and raising the stakes.
