Cole hits the same bar every Thursday night looking for hookups. But he’s getting bored, until a really drunk Ren, whose boyfriend of five years just left him, approaches him.
The attraction is there, but Ren being too drunk, Cole send him off and tells him to come back sober. It takes 6 months for Ren to work up the courage to go back to the bar, and they reignite their attraction.
Meanwhile, Ren also stars taking to a guy online, and they form a friendship where they share lots of their lives, but never meet.
As the regular hooking up becomes more like a relationship, both guys are shy to take a chance. Ren agreed to meet his online friend, and when Cole realizes it’s them, he can’t fight it anymore. He pursues Ren, who slowly trusts their relationship, and all goes well.
Initially, the connection they make at the bar is really superficial, so it’s hard to see it growing. Similarly, their online friendship lacks depth, so it doesn’t really fit that they feel so vulnerable when meeting. It gets better as things go along. I love the bingo chart at the Four Bears Construction office.

Ren is going through a breakup when he meets Cole at a bar. He's not ready for anything then but a few months later they hook up only to realize Cole will be working on Ren's bathroom remodel. Cole is the king of one night stands but something about Ren has him sticking around much longer than planned.

This was an enjoyable start to a series. I liked all the characters and can’t wait to read each of their stories too.

This is my first book by Neuhold and I thoroughly enjoyed it!
The story follows Ren as he tries to enter his hoe phase after a breakup. He encounters Cole, who is as non-committal as can be. The transition from a one-night stand to a weekly hook-up to starting a relationship was so sweet and well done.
One thing that I loved is the text conversations between Ren and Cole. They truly felt real and relatable. There was so much humor in this story that I smiled nearly the whole story. Also, the side characters were 10/10. I can't wait to read their stories as well.
Overall, this was a 4 star read for me.

“Anything,” I promise him, knowing deep in my gut that it’s true. I would do anything to make Ren happy, to take care of him and show him how much I support his dreams. “Always, anything.”
Caulky is a sweet and very steamy romance. There was a lot of lovin’, a lot.. so if that’s not your thing, this isn’t for you. It has minimal angst and just an all around happy, fun story. Sweet supportive characters and friends. I kept waiting for drama and was so pleased there was none. I could totally picture Ren and Cole growing old together.

Well I guess my strike with K.M’s books is broken: after reading more than 15 of her books this year and loving them, this is my first disappointment
It was not bad, it was just too long IMO. Too long for a story without real conflict. Too many “what if I get hurt again? What if he gets tired of me?” For guys in their 30/40s it was a bit too much IMO. Their feelings were valid but too repetitive.
Some of the scenes were cute, the sexy ones were kind of disappointing I admit…
Usually I really love the author’s series and always felt like once I started book 1 I wanted to read them all but this series doesn’t do it for me. I might read them later but I’m not in a hurry like I was with the Ballsy boys or the Palm island books.
The use of “Honeybee” was sweet at first but a bit too much after a while
I still rate it 3* because it’s an author I love and am looking forward to her future books :)
