Lovely and heartbreaking as it's based on The Little Match Girl and has themes of addiction and child neglect.

Simultaneously a heart-warming and heart-breaking Christmas story, following 10-year old Ronja and her 16-year old sister who live in Norway with their alcoholic father. Ronja encourages her father to take up a job as a Christmas tree seller, but due to his addition her sister and herself end up doing the work, to make ends meet. There are some beautiful touching encounters with those willing to help them, but overall I found it a very sad tale. I think it will stay with me for a long time.
