I listened to this on audio, read by the author and it was truly inspiring, infuriating and liberating. Your hair will be on fire the whole time, but you’ll be glad you read it.

It started out slow for me, but once I switched over to audio I could not stop listening. Traister so perfectly encapsulates the rage running through the left since the 2016 election, and rightfully points out how all of the white women who are newly awoken to injustice are late to the party. We have so much to learn from the black and brown activists who have been fighting this fight for centuries. She exhorts us to hold on to our anger, but also remember our own power and privilege in our efforts to join the fight. The conclusion was especially inspiring and left me feeling energized and motivated headed into the presidential election year.

Powerful. Just bought two used copies - one for JHAG when she gets back from camp. The second is to have on hand to give away.

Highly recommend, especially now. If you are angry or saddened by current events, you are far from alone.

Women, your anger is just, it is righteous, it is terrifying to those in power, and it is powerful enough to fuel revolution. Let it.

This has become my go-to book to propose as an introduction to feminism because of the way it ties three hundred years of history into one narrative of righteous anger and does a good job of representing the way that black women have led the struggle only to be marginalized as their causes become mainstream, illustrating the essential role of intersectionality to the modern incarnation of the struggle.

DID NOT FINISH

DNF because I literally cannot finish this book. It is not a problem with the book, it is a problem with the world.
