This book is everything that I wanted The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue as well as the Lucifer and Sandman comics to be! 4.5 out of 5 stars :)

I appreciated parts of what this book was trying to do, but for me, it didn’t all necessarily land. The timelines and delivery of certain narrative elements felt unnecessarily convoluted and confusing, especially in a single read through (and I did not love it enough to read it through a second time). My takeaway from the book was that while humanity and mortality may seem like a weakness when held against the allure of immortality, they truly are a gift.

Loved this book as much as the first Atlas series installment. Her writing is my absolute favorite. The story was unique and I at no point knew where it was heading. No spice which is always a plus.

This book has unique storytelling and is very dialogue heavy.

I don't think I've ever read a book that has such an extensive use of dialogue. It may just be my reading comprehension, but I felt that many elements of the story were explained only in dialogue and the reader was left to put together what happened as opposed being told directly. I often found myself referencing conversations in previous chapters.

That said, I did enjoy the story and the characters. This book has a large cast and a fun narrative voice. It is fast paced and, although it might not seem like it will, everything wraps up and has a satisfying ending.

I would definitely recommend giving this book a chance!

DID NOT FINISH: 54%

I was struggling with the narrator of this book. I also kept falling asleep and missing parts of it, making it hard to follow.
I may come back to it at some point, just not in audio format.
