"This is not my story. This is a story., and a worthy one, but it doesn't belong to me."

Too many characters that all have a categories attached to them (god, demon, angel, ghost, death, etc.) to keep up with. It also reminds me of Mona Awad's Rouge - too much dialogue that doesn't make sense and a weird Tom..

"You can never truly know a culture until you've been bitten by one of its myths."

This could've been a lot better if it was shorter, more direct and less chatter amongst characters. We know you need to find the ledger.. so go find it!

"For he who controls the ledger controls the game, and whoever controls the game controls all of the players; even the players, like Death, who never lose."

Can I give this book 100 stars?! When I say I’m obsessed I’m OBSESSED. I’ve never laughed so hard or cried so much with a book before! Every single character is the best but my favorites are Cal and Death. They both made me laugh the most! And I simply cannot get enough of Brandt! My favorite book boyfriend currently! I’m also so obsessed with the authors writing style! It’s so unique! I’ve definitely never seen it before! It took me to about 15% of the way into it to get used to the writing style. It feels like it was written to be a movie. I really hope they do make it a movie too! I would love to see these characters come to life! Too many exclamation points??? Nahhhhh!!

I enjoyed this book a LOT more than I thought I would. So whimsical, lighthearted, and just fun. It was so relaxing to read this book, and that's something I 1) needed right now and 2) don't normally find in a book.

If you have a minute to just...enjoy a great book (that's different from anything you'll ever read), please pick this up!!

What. A. Journey. I had to take a deep breath at the end. I still feel like I’m holding my breath from that last game.

There are some beautiful moments in this story. A dozen times better than my experience with her other two books. Unique concept and unique characters with dynamic relationships.

I. Just. Wish. Vi. Had. A. Bigger. Part. And that’s the main reason it cannot be 5 stars. If you took the whole story and removed Vi,  the outcome would basically be the same. Which is NOT what you want for a major character. Or at least, she’s presented as a MC. She isn’t written like one. Also this was a slow slow slow start. I had to skim several chapters to find the action again. Her writing style is still not my favorite. But damn does she have some amazing scenes scattered about.

For all the things I did not like, this was a very unique book like I’ve never read before.

Will I pick up another book for her? Idk 1/3 isn’t great. But I at least, recommend this one.
