Just like reading "Out" by the same author, the story's going so well and then the ending is rushed and out of the blue and kind of overshadows how good the story was going. It wasn't bad, though, I did enjoy it.

I’m really at a loss of words with this one, I picked up this book because I read Out by her as well, I will say I was expecting more but I also wasn’t let down by the end, I saw people say they didn’t like the writing style but in my opinion it perfectly fits the minds of these teenagers/young adults which really develops them as characters, each of them were deeply different Worm being extremely easy to hate. The plot really didn’t matter much to me but the characters each posed something different for me and made me think about different things relating to the human condition, living, as well as society and the effects it has on people especially teenagers and children. If looking for a plot story do not come here, if wanting interesting characters here you are.

The story of this novel picks up extremely quickly--I finished it collectively in about 2 days! The author had a unique way of placing you in the mind/shoes of every character involved, which I ended up loving as part of the way she decided to tell the series of events that unfolded throughout the book.

There’s a saying that says “every translation is a betrayal” and i think that applies here— Japanese to english is so hard and i think it results in writing that feels super detached. Otherwise the characters were super believable and the story was interesting but it was just meh. I feel like the author was on to a lot of cool themes like repression of the self and disassociation and then she just like stopped writing lol
