Cruel dads and unlikable old townsfolk aside, I loved the characters in this book. Did it get a little dramatic before the end? Yes. But Tyler deserved the love.
Graphic: Death of parent
Moderate: Cancer
Ty is forced to return to his childhood home after his estranged father dies, dredging up a lot of old baggage from before he left and tying him to the town while he sorts out affairs
He’s surprised by the arrival of Ollie, who had been hired as home care aid and wasn’t notified of the death. Unfortunately he had been counting on the job, and the live in status for him and his son.
Roommates for convenience quickly turns to close friendship. When the attraction starts growing, a relationship seems not tooooo far behind. The burn is a little slow, but considering one character is Demi that makes perfect sense
It’s not all easy going though. There is loss of parents, parental estrangement, health issues (current and former), ptsd, homophobia - they are going through a lot between them
That said, it’s lovely to watch them support each other while working through their respective traumas. And seeing people’s hearts and minds change is gratifying!

Paramedic Ty returns to the small town he grew up in when his father dies. There he meets veteran Ollie and son Theo, both with their own troubles. Ollie was supposed to be starting work as carer for Ty's dad: Ty gives him a break.
This book kept throwing lines at me that resonated deep inside, rattling my solar plexus. Many times I had to stop, look away, blink, breathe. Not quite a 5: the slow burn needed to smoulder longer, to slow the onrushing plot.

Ollie & Ty. So sweet!! A slow burn, small town romance. Dealing with grief, found family, town politics, and more. I really loved how Ollie and Ty’s relationship formed. And how Ty and Theo got on as well. I liked the author’s way of writing out spicy scenes for first times and then doing a closed door method later.
