I really liked it. Just because there are 12 teens fighting doesn't mean it is anything like hunger games. I can't wait for the next one and I hope it will be as good as the first.

This book is kinda weird. It took me like 200 pages to get adjusted to it but then I started to like it. Especially because the characters began to finally develop some character and I could start to like them.
However, the two characters I liked most both died so there is that...
But I guess all in all it is okay. It definitely is interesting and unique but I spend more than half the book not liking it, so I can't really give it a higher rating, in my opinion.

3.5/5

I am just SO frustrated with this book. My frustrations:
1.) It is basically the Hunger Games, just without the emotion, the family, the epic battle scenes and the corrupt rulers.
2.) Most of the characters I could not relate to whatsoever and were very superficial, and the one decent character was killed off.
3.) The writing is dry and has no emotion. It is written in third person, and gives the characters no original thoughts.
Unfortunately, I will be reading the sequel, because that is what my book club voted for the book of the month.

Picked this book up because:"oh! Look! So bright and gold!" Read the description: "uuuh! Sounds Hunger Games-ish! Let's go home shall we?"

Read it in one night... Couldn't put it down! This book gave me so many moments for me like "I better take a break..." from the reading because "holy sh*t" but then, again, I couldn't put it down, I had to know what was going to happen!
This was a full BAM book, but still, that ending got me like "WOW!". Like "what the f is going on here?!"
The whole love story in this book is kind of annoying sometimes but it's a softness that I believe it's sort of...good for the story plot. Dunno...
Read it and then tell me about it...

I disliked this book. There were too many characters, and the descriptions were far too long. There were many plot holes. I was confused while I read. I definitely would not recommend it.

3.5 stars. Review later.

I really did try to read this. I mean, I spent an entire week telling myself that it would get better. But alas, 164 pages in and I still had no idea who half of the characters were, nor did I care about the impending doom of basically the entire planet. [a:James Frey|822|James Frey|https://d.gr-assets.com/authors/1207412020p2/822.jpg] was overly ambitious, I think, in taking on 12 different points of views. With such short scenes, the book felt choppy and lacked any flow that enticed me to keep reading.
