Solid sequel. I knew going in it would be a bit over the top, so that didn't bother me. Is this an unbelievable story, sure is. Is it a well written story that kept my interest, yup on that not as well.
Just like the the first book, this is written for the YA audience, it can take you back to that high school mindset of gossip crushing your whole world and crushes being everything.
Karen McManus has a way of giving you details into characters without drawing it out and making you think 'ugh, just move on already'
She keeps your interest while giving you a story that has you entertained.
This time around you get snippets of the original Bayview 4 but the story is centered around Maeve (Brownyn's little sister), Phoebe & Knox with some other high school kids thrown in for the story and plot.
There is a Simon wannabe who focuses on a 'Truth or Dare' texting game that seems harmless enough if you take a dare.
The truth's that come out are true high school gossip meant to hurt at that age.
The dares are just stupid and harmless.. to start.
Then a kid dies, that wasn't supposed to happen.
Then the book takes a turn to the unbelievable, but by then you are invested in the story enough to keep reading and finish out the book.
Even with this widely unrealistic twist I still found myself enjoying the story.
Overall well done for a sequel, I don't know that I would be lining up for a 3rd to be honest, you can only take so much high school drama, or maybe that is just me now that I'm in my 40's.
Happy Reading.

I first started this book several months ago, but at the time life got pretty busy and reading took a back seat. I was in a reading slump for half a year or so. Then recently I watched the Netflix adaption of One of Us is Lying (the first book of this series) and I realised how much I enjoyed the first book.

So I picked this book back up and started it again last night. I think the fact I am already finished is a pretty solid indication of how much I enjoyed this sequel too! So well written, and (SPOILER WARNING) even when I thought I’d figured everything out the book still threw me a curveball right on the very last page(s)!
