Written when porta tiny and Sven were in hospital in Hamburg. The normal fist fights orgies and money making schemes are the theme. There doesn’t actually appear to be a story or a plot. We are introduced to Lieutenant Olsen in this book. He is the new leader when the trio get put back out to join the fighting. Olsen gets some leave and discovers his wife is having an affair and she sent their son off to join the Hitler youth. I’m sure it’s not the last we hear of him but an ok book if you like the war books from a different perspective

Starts off with Sven, Tiny and some of the others in hospital for various wounds. Naturally there's the usual amount of disorder as they ignore orders and authority.
They eventually return to the front and their unit as the Russians start their advance to the west.

A good selection of background characters, both good and bad.
Hassel as usual makes himself and his comrades give a Nuremberg defence of following orders even while not wanting to carry them out.
