I enjoyed reading this book for the first time as an adult. I noticed right away that the Percy Jackson series was heavily inspired by this series. I see why people like this fandom and find it nostalgic. It has an old fashioned storytelling style, especially at the beginning. It had a cozy fantasy vibe before that was such a trend. Dumbledore has some great quotes. I am sure I would have stronger feelings if I had read it as a child. Nevertheless, I enjoyed it, I somehow managed to avoid enough spoilers to be surprised by the plot twist, and I look forward to seeing how the characters mature over the series.

Despite many differences with the author, I have really wanted to complete this series before reaching my 30th birthday in April (I’ve only read up to Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix before). This was a re-read for me and I absolutely adored the nostalgic world of Hogwarts and the magic this book oozes is just like no other. I cannot wait to continue my journey to Hogwarts with Harry, Ron, Hermione and all of the characters and see what mysteries lie ahead.

After many years of watching the movies, I decided to start going through the Harry Potter books finally. The Sorcerer's Stone was a lot of fun and filled in a lot of gaps in the plotline or character details that the movie left out. In some ways, the movie lingered on a few more of the visuals and tense/action-based moments than the book; it felt like it moved fairly quick all things considered. However, what is lacking in visuals is more than made up by reasonable plot points. Definitely excited to continue the series!
