I’ve read this before, just my first read of it while using this site. The characters attitudes are well done, and the and I enjoy the drawing style as well.
The only thing I dislike is that when I read this volume I always hate the main character. Sure, he’s got his motivations, but they’re shallow.

So I love the fake dating to real dating trope so I picked this up. Plus the anime is super popular as well. Kazuya was really not my vibe. He’s very pushy and is stuck on that he’s a virgin. I want to read the next few volumes to see if it gets better but tbh I don’t know if I’ll love this series.

My rating: 2.5/5

This manga series is about a girl who is paying her way through university by working as an escort, as a girlfriend you can rent for non-sexual purposes. However, things go unexpectedly awry when her life becomes intertwined with that of one of her clients.

Such a plot sounds quite intriguing, funny even, like a good ole lighthearted '90s rom-com, but unfortunately its maturity really lacks. As the main characters are in university, I expected the story to be more mature, something that young adults could enjoy. Sadly, its humour and emotional simplicity make this book seem like it is more directed toward young teenagers (13-15). At times, its tone seems even more juvenile, as if it is a book for tweens (10-12), which is strange given the plot line. Additionally, there are a lot of abrupt transitions between scenes and even mid-scene in dialogue (conversations among characters, especially banter and flirtation, seem unnatural [this could be a translation issue], and when they are natural, they are mostly childish, which is awkward [this could be a translation issue, too, but it could also be a characteristic of the writing).

I mildly enjoyed reading this first volume of the series. As I am disappointed in its quality, I am not fully convinced that reading volume two will be worth it, though. However, I may give it another chance. It is my wallet, on the other hand, that will not this time. Here's to the library hopefully having stocked volume two! And if not, that's okay.

While this manga definitely swings towards the pervy boy trope for the male protagonist, I actually enjoy his struggle and the female protagonist honestly makes up for everything. This manga is super silly and I love a fake dating scenario.

I haven't warmed up to the character kazuya, I can feel sorry for him due to how his last girlfriend treated him. However he just rubs me the wrong way. Chizuru on the other hand I absolute loved her character design and personality. I'm debating of to carry on just to see more of her character progression.
