I liked it. The idea that super animals related to the dinosaur era intrigues me.
Yes, I had watched the movie first, but it's been a few years.

Prehistoric, man-eating shark. What isn't there to love?

Meg is an exciting and bombastic novel starring a crew of paper-doll people, a term I use for characters with wafer-thin depth. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the women were the worst victims of Alten's lack of imagination when plotting his characters. I cannot vouch for the scientific accuracy of the story since I'm not a marine biologist, but some assertions did seem a little... fishy... Otherwise, the story was very entertaining to follow and I understand both why it was sold to movie producers immediately, and why it took several studios and thirty years for the movie to get made.

After having a few dreams about sharks, I wanted to read a shark horror novel. Weird? Maybe. But I've never claimed to be normal. Since the movie was on my mind, I thought I'd give this a shot and downloaded the audiobook from the library. Was it the best book of the month? The year? One of my overall favorites? Nope. Was it a lot of fun? Yes. It also has some tropes you can expect from the time period it was written in.

Read this if you want a fun, shark horror novel. Read it, enjoy, and don't think too much about it. If you're looking for something to read a little more critically I'd suggest looking for something else.
slow-paced

Great story , extremely dragged out
