A quick read, and not entirely worth the time anyway. Gore-porn, with a humorlessly ludicrous conclusion.
Good fun from start to finish. A very solid page Turner of a creature feature, and more than good enough to get me to read the next in the series. Recommended if you enjoy B-Movies, sharks, or a fun, thrilling books.

I really didn't like The Meg much at all, and was skimming it at the end. The characters were boring and not fleshed out. The climax was ridiculous, even for the realm in which a Megalodon exists. Some of the exposition was repetitive. What else? One of the plot points was underutilized. It did start out good and I did like some of the action scenes with The Meg, but I don't think it was overall worth the read.
It's not that I expected this book to be a stunning work of art, but I did at least expect it to be readable. Sadly, it is not.

Plot: A giant, prehistoric shark escapes the Mariana Trench to wreck havoc on the ocean. Meanwhile a research team that accidentally caused it's release tries to track it down before it kills too many people or other animals.
Review: ⭐⭐⭐1/2 I'm going to start out by saying that I love ocean horror, no matter how ridiculous it can get, and this book gets ridiculous. A lot of people have seen the movie adaptation, and the two are very similar through the first half. Somehow the book is even more bonkers than the film (they toned it down?!?!), but I enjoyed this quick, silly read regardless.

Fun story, but the shark - and even some of the boats - got more character development than the two main female characters. Huge pet peeve of mine.
