Based on The Running Grave and Ink Black Heart, I don't think in the future I will approach Galbraith novels the same way I approach most mysteries. There's no "figuring it out", for me. I think I'd come close if I took notes or tabbed while reading (I'd like to use tabs next time: reminder to self). But, there are an overwhelming amount of red herrings and inconsequential details that I think, for me, any certainty of the "right" answer is impossible. I end up having detailed theories about how it could be *everyone* and one theory out of a dozen ends up being close to right. That takes away some of the joy of solving it. Which would usually make me dismiss the author. But Galbraith/Rowling's strength has always been in characterization. I'm sucked into the lives and choices of Robin and Cormoran and I love all the agency employees, friends, clients, and suspects. Everyone is three dimensional, introduced organically and interesting. And there's always growth.

Plus, it's a cult mystery. That's a quick 5 stars right there.

I blew through this book in less than a week. I'll impatiently wait for the next one.

holy freaking crap THE ENDING
aoisdjf ads;
i had to just sit on the couch in silence
there were two pages left and i didn't think anything crazy couldl happen in two pages but i was WRONG
there were some excellent scenes between our two favorite detective partners but that last scene really took the cake and i cant believe there's not another book out yet for me to find out what happens next
im really dead
overall a great mystery novel, the cult was pretty scary but honestly easy to not get caught up in, i'll have to re-read again to figure out all the hints
dang

I thoroughly enjoyed this installment in the series. It was a welcomed and unexpected change to have a book where the reader generally knows who the 'bad guy' is and gets to watch the detectives investigate and prove the expected crimes. Although this book was on the longer side, I was captivated and itching to pick up the book each time I put it down.

OMG, the best book in the series up to now and one of the best books I've read in ages!

With every Robert Galbraith book I always end up confused, never knowing "whodunnit" and this book again.... what a plot twist in the end! And then the cliffhanger....

I need book 8 ASAP!
