Enthralled- from beginning to the end! Narration was awesome, and easier to follow this time. Love the main characters, the premise (cult- heck ya!), story line. My main problem with this series is too many characters. I can't remember all the names of minor/side characters. I don't even know all the names of the detectives at the agency! And the names are so unusual (at least to me) that I have to look them up for spelling to make it easier on my brain. I'm always afraid to look up names online lest I accidentally read something spoilery.
Spoilers to follow...
So do we know that Becca is Papa J's daughter? Seems like it was presumed. I guess that is really the only plausible explanation of why she wasn't murdered. Taking her away for 3 years of thorough brain washing seems excessively complicated. Did Mazu know she was Wace's daughter? Guessing no since she didn't seem to like his offspring. I kind of thought that her virginity was going to be a part of her demise-- The Virgin Prophet. But I guess she was being groomed to take over the cult. And her virginity was only important to keep her safe rom Mazu's wrath.

I have some serious conflicted feelings about this book. It's annoying as fuck. And the twist is more like meh.
Also, I dislike the blatant storyline between Strike and Robin. Like, whyyy? It's too common and boring. Why can't partners just be partners.
That part is really annoying. Even worse than the fact that it's more than 1k pages long.

Wow I loved this book. Second to troubles blood in the series for being my favorite, this book was extremely eerie while also being extremely riveting. The mystery was by far the most entertaining one and the slow burn between both detective partners ended in a great resolution. Somehow J.K turned something I hated into something that I see as sweet.

Loved it - one of the best in the series. So glad Robin finally got so much of her own narrative. Can’t wait for the next one.
