One of the best non-fiction books I've read, about a nurse who fights to save her house from being taken by eminent domain in Connecticut.

This book is a novelization of the eminent domain battle that led to the 2005 Supreme Court decision. The dramatization of the story leaves a pretty clear sense that the whole story has not been told. It's a strange form to use for this story - it seems that a non-fictional account would be convincing enough. However, the story itself is compelling, if you're not familiar.

Having attended college in New London in the 70s, when the city was in dire straits, I was very interested in the redevelopment that had occurred along the waterfront (Pfizer, etc.). I knew bits and pieces of "the story" and the related controversy, but not really. This book was fantastic, did a great job of weaving together the events, the personalities, the implications of decisions made. I applaud the author for taking the risks that I believe he had to, in writing this book. I recommend it highly.

The story of what would become Kelo v. New London. Got me angry all over again, enough to sign up for two or three other organizations by the time I finished it up.
