So far this was the longest story in the saga, and honestly it deserved it! There were some scenes that creeped me out, others that felt forced or exaggerated, but the atmosphere and the charm that has characterized the entire series is undeniably here. I loved how Gothel became the woman we met on the film and to discover what made her like that.

I honestly don’t know what to think about this one. It gets 4 stars from me because it wasn’t amazing but it linked greatly with the original Rapunzel story and it didn’t really leave room for the “how?”, however, I don’t buy the whole “Gothel was a good girl till she wasn’t” but of it. Out of all the books I believe this is the least credible one.

Loved this Book, my favorite Disney is tangled so to see another aspect of it fascinated me. My only downside would be it dragged on in places! But I'd recommend it!

This one was a struggle to get through; it was just too repetitive.

I have had mixed reviews with the alternative tales of the Disney classics but this one I found enjoyable.

Gothel is a well known character but a character we didn't know much about. This read gives you a background story and an understanding to her evilness.

The chapters were short and snappy and there was good pace to the story.

I especially loved the links to the film Tangled as this will always be one of my favourite Princess Films.

I have really enjoyed learning more about the iconic villians and their own stories.
adventurous medium-paced

I enjoyed the book a lot, but I can't help but feel like it's more because of my love for the source material than anything else.
I really, really wanted this to coincide with canon, but as the story progressed I realized it didn't. I noticed some parallels between this book and the original Rapunzel tale, though, which was pretty interesting.
My biggest gripe is in the final couple of chapters. The final chapters take place during the movie, so it stands as mostly a recap. A few characters secretly watching the events of the movie and commentating. It just hadn't felt necessary and I felt like could've been handled better.
But my original statement stands. I LOVED reading the book. It was fun and I've recommended it to lots of people, despite my gripes. The second I bought the book, I couldn't put it down.
