Adorable read felt like I feel into the Disney story. Definitely interested on meeting the real villains of Disney and how they came to be highly recommend quick cute read makes any character you thought you hated more human after all.
Was going to be a 3-star review, but then those damn Odd Sisters got so much focus. Uggghhh. I can't even with them any more.
According to Valentino, there's going to be at least 9 books, the remaining ones being released within the next few years. She hasn't announced the villains for books 7-9, and while I'd like to give them a shot--because hey, why not?--book 6, to be released next summer, is going to be titled "The Odd Sisters"...
NOPE. There's my limit. Unless I discover I can properly appreciate books 7-9 without reading book 6... #done.

While not as eventful as the last two books, I found this novel to be the easiest one to follow. Mother Knows Best did a fantastic job of not jumping all over as the previous novels in this series did. Along with this, this fifth installment beautifully articulated Gothel's struggles that we didn't necessarily get from the movie Tangled. It was well written with wonderful characters (as is typical for Valentino), however I rated it at a 3 because I didn't feel as though the last quarter of the book measured up to the intensity of the first part of the story
Oh how I loved this book, the 1st I picked up, and gladly I spun into the back story of Rapunzel's capture Mother Gothel and her magical dark ancestry. Now some villains are born, some are matured into the succession and some...well some are Gothel. Get reading and get ready for this series to blow your mind.
Oooohhh this one might be my favourite book in this series yet! The book is completely centred around Gothel, more so than other of the other villains books so far so I really enjoyed that. It also has bits that directly relate to the film version but explained in a new way which was super fun too.
I can't wait for the next installment.

I was wholely unimpressed with this book. It was such a good idea but honestly I think it was more me than the book... I never really liked Gothel but I figured this would be fun.
I was wrong... I felt sorry for Gothel and she changed so drastically from one extreme to the other with nothing in the middle to show why she changed.
I liked the end where we got to see the parts of the film that were incorporated.
Overall I didn't enjoy it but I pushed through hoping it would get better... For me it did not, it seemed to take a lot longer to read than it actually did

2.5/5
I enjoyed this more for the nostalgia than the writing style and the storyline. However, I know this was aimed for younger readers!! I also think that it focused too much on the Odd Sisters rather than diving more into Gothel’s character.

I have never liked this series but now I’m over even hate reading it. This was the first book that truly focused on the villain since the first and it was Terrible. There is NO explanation for the terrible character development and world building. Does this author actively hate the original sources? That’s the only reason I can come up with for why she feels the need to throw in these new characters that NO ONE ASKED FOR
