Trigger warnings: cancer, abandonment, divorce, death, lying

Part of me didn't think I would like this book as much as I liked the first in the series, but trust Ashley Herring Blake to prove me wrong! Astrid definitely wasn't my favorite in book 1, but it was actually really great to be able to get a peek into her mind and her life in this one. I understood her struggles with standing up for herself, with disengaging who she is from who other people wanted her to be and with opening up her heart to people, even her closest friends. I really enjoyed reading about her growth, along with getting swept away for the romance. Jordan was a great love interest and a great character on her own. I was shocked with the realities of her struggles, not gonna lie, and with how some of the conflict went down in the story. But overall, I just had such a good time reading this book. I thought Astrid and Jordan made a really great pair. Astrid supported and understood Jordan more than other people in her life, and Jordan gave Astrid space to be different than the expectations, space to actually be herself. It was beautifullll! I am DYING for the third book in this series. But also really sad that the series is coming to an end after that.
