I liked how the real life events tied into the. Great characters and art.
Superman has always been anti-racist, anti-fascist and pro-immigrant, and Yang nailed his characterization here. This really gets at the heart of what Superman is all about, and even though I usually have trouble with historical fiction, this was a breeze for me to read. I love the Lees and I love Superman embracing what makes him different, especially when we need that kind of reminder right now.

I adored this. I’m on a Superman graphic novel reading binge and it’s fascinating how different writers approach the Big Blue Boy Scout. This couldn’t be more different than All Star Superman, which takes every weird and fantastical aspect of Superman’s mythos and brings it all together. The story here is so painfully real, and is a product of the 1946 radio series it’s based on, with Superman actually beginning to use his more “alien” powers being the most fantastical we get. The core remains of a character who is different but loves all just the same, and with kindness as his biggest power. I loved seeing the parallels of him learning how he can stand out as opposed to just fitting in, with those of the Lees. We’ve had real world supervillains always, whether in 1946 and in 2025, and it warms my heart that Superman has and will always be a character that stands against them.
