I received this arc for an honest review.

3.5 stars. I loved Hunter in this book. He wasn't the typical arrogant star athlete, and I loved his relationship with his sister and her kids. It was great to see a man putting the needs of children, who aren't even his, above his own. Unfortunately, I wasn't really an Emerson fan. There were just a bunch of little things that bothered me about her throughout the book, like I have to wonder if she's already late for her first day of work, why is she standing on the curb next to a puddle, fixing herself? Also, Hunter sent Emerson presents, and instead of being polite and accepting some of the gifts, she got angry over a pair of earrings and sent everything back. At least when he picked her up for their date, she recognized the issue was hers, not his, and she explained everything to him, but for me, there was no coming back for her.

Hunter's teammates added some fun to the story, and I hope they get books, or at least Shawn gets one. I'll definitely be picking those books up to read.

I have really loved books by Tracy Wolff in the past and I am always looking forward to seeing what she comes up with. I have to say though that Down & Dirty is not my favorite book of hers. While I did like some things about this one, I also had some issues with the story.

Emerson is already getting off to a rough start when she finds herself running late for her new job and gets sprayed with water by a driver hitting a puddle. She soon realizes that the driver is none other than star quarterback Hunter Browning. Hunter is immediately drawn to her and wants her, so he sets out to hire her as his real-estate agent to win her over and help save her job. But can he convince her to give them a shot and take her off the market?

I have to admit there were times here that I really struggled with Hunter's character. He was so arrogant and cocky at times. He thought he was God's gift to women, and couldn't understand if women weren't falling all over him with the drop of a hat. Emerson was better, being feisty and strong. These two had a lot of chemistry and were super hot together. That was definitely the one thing that I didn't have any issues with. Tracy Wolff knows how to write some steamy scenes, and Down & Dirty definitely delivered on that. I do feel like when it came to the story and the characters though that things were pretty surface deep and I would have liked more.

Overall, this one was good but it wasn't everything I had been hoping for. While there were things I liked, it was just okay and I was left wanting more. If you are looking for something quick and sexy, you might give this one a shot.

Tracy Wolff has done it again! I've always enjoyed her books and this one is right up there with the rest. This is a great story!

I liked the premise right away...Emerson is a struggling artist (recently graduated) and is on her way to her job of desperation in a real estate office. She's just dealt with a broken down car, being late for her first day, then Hunter Browning, the quarterback for a professional football team, pulls up to where she's just exited her Uber ride and sprays her with water from his big truck hitting a mud puddle as he parks in front of her office. I love her attitude when he tries to appease her with a smile...like she'd fall for that!

But Hunter is more than he seems. And Emerson has a depth for caring, even when she's handling her own issues and insecurities, that goes above and beyond what many people would have for someone they've only known a short while.

Without giving the story away, certain circumstances are heartbreaking but also shows just how far someone will go in forgiving and supporting the one they love when they need it most!

I'm hoping Tanner's story is next!

Down & Dirty was such a great book! I loved this introduction into the Lightning series. My love for Emerson and Hunter will continue to grow if and when I met them throughout the other books of this series. However, if their relationship wasn't so instantaneous I probably would've been head over heels after I first met them. Either way, I ended up loving them and their cliches!

Hunter is the rich, famous, athlete kind of guy whereas Emerson is the poor, outspoken, struggling artist. Again, cliche as fuck but I ended up loving them. They had their funny moments that made me smiles and kept turning the pages. Then there's the whole smut between these two - hot damn! I was in love with everything that was smutastic! Again, their chemistry was the one thing that kept this book a page turner.

Overall, I enjoyed this book and I can't wait to dive into the next on of this series.

I enjoyed this book immensely! It's about time we saw a really genuine professional athlete that wasn't some sort of egomaniacal jerk with commitment issues. I loved Emerson too, she had just enough of a history to make her skittish. This book was well done, great flow and interesting from start to finish! I was sad, happy, giggling and hopeful many times throughout. I love the feels!

Touchdown! Hunter and Emerson are a perfect score. Emerson doesn't take any of his crap and gives it right back to him. She is the resilient, independent woman we want to see in our characters. Hunter is frantically looking for a house that is a home due to his circumstances beyond his control. Through a terrible time in his life Emerson brings him a safe place.
The book has some super hot scenes, emotional scenes and chuckles along the way. Pick it up and fall in love with the new series.

I love how Down & Dirty started with a Murphy's law morning for Emerson. As she prepares for her first day at her new job, her car won't start, she gets an Uber driver going well too slow, and tops it off by being splashed by a puddle, leaving her drenched, all before making it in the door!

While I am typically not a fan of instalove, this one was on overdrive in their realization about their feelings. As other reviewers have mentioned, the storyline was great, but the backgrounds of the characters could have been expanded quite a bit more to strengthen the story. Overall, it was a quick, but enjoyable read.

4 out of 5 stars.

Ok

While liked the overall story a lot the pace was just WAY too fast for me. I feel like everything happened so quickly I had a hard time really feeling their relationship.

I enjoyed this story. As it had a bit of everything. It was sweet, sexy, engaging and even a little sad. Especially during those last few chapters. The two main characters Emerson and Hunter were also very likable and shared a spark. And I really liked how they met and the banter between them. Although I did think the relationship between them was a little rushed, yet I was still drawn into it and it was easy to read. Plus the minor characters including Hunters niece and nephew Lucy and Brent and best friend Tanner were all likable. And added to the overall story. Which I would happily recommend to others.
