This is my second book by Nicolas Sanders, and I have loved it immensely. The story follows Amy, a woman who experiences severe isolation and mistreatment from her husband. He seldom permits her to leave their home, but when he finally does, Amy encounters a remarkable opportunity—following a tragic accident and a case of mistaken identity—to break free from her abuser for good.
“. . . and for the first time in my life, I am exactly where I want to be.”
I can’t cound how many times I’ve wanted to toss my phone in frustration over this book. The start is really engaging, and it even reminded me of one of my all-time favorite films, ‘Sleeping with The Enemy’, during the first few chapters. This book’s plot moves quickly, making it a definite page-turner and a super easy read. I’m completely absorbed the entire time and nearly finished it in one go.
Honestly, I dislike all the characters in this book except for Amy—she’s the onlynone who is likable, and I actually feel a sense of sadness for her. I’m left unsatisfied with the ending because it feels rushed, and I wanted more closure for the protagonist. But it was still an incredible read, and I rated it 4-stars. If you’re in search of a psychological thriller that will leave you breathless with its suspenseful and anxiety-inducing moments, then you definitely need to check this out.

This book was just meh. A quick little popcorn triller and nothing more. None of the characters were terribly likable and some of the decisions made were so dumb. Also, all of the men in this story were written to be abusive a**holes or weak a** romantics. Meh.
