This book was so fucking stupid and misogynistic and had the dumbest most cliche ending. However I did read it in like 48 hours...
Would not recommend unless you’re willing to kill lots of brain cells

I love Sherrilyn Kenyon, but had a hard time getting through this book. Hopefully the next one will be back on track track to what I am used to.

This book has quickly made it to one of my favorites in this series. I still love Born or Night and Born of Fire the most, BUT this one was so good. There were a few things that would kind of take me out of the story every now and again, but over all I liked it. Though i enjoyed the banter between the characters, sometimes it would go on for too long or just be misplaced for the situation. My only other complaint was the add in about Darling. He is so obviously gay in Born of Night, and to hint that things might be different make me a little annoyed. If he's bisexual, that's fine, but don't randomly change a character's sexuality.

I absolutely love Caillen and his sassy, snarky self. His comments and quick comebacks were much appreciated. I enjoy how it's very clear he is a womanizing smuggler who is the farthest thing from an aristo, but he still makes an effort for his father. I think that added more depth to his character, as opposed to just a shallow hero looking for his next partner (which is what he could have easily devolved into).

Desideria is so bada** that I can't even begin to talk about how much I loved her. Despite the fact she was thrown into world's and cultures that she was completely ignorant of, she was able to hold her own against her opponents and Caillen. She's such a strong female character that made it obvious she didn't need a man, but she didn't mind having one by her side.

I think I liked this book so much because it had a healthy balance of romance and action. The other books, I felt were more heavy on the romance (but I love Nyk and Syn so much it doesn't matter). For the majority of the book I was more concerned about them clearing their names and uncovering the coup as opposed to hooking up. Of course, when they inevitably did, I did let loose a sigh of relief and thought it was about dang time.

Overall, this book was highly enjoyable. As usual, I loved the characters and was so SO happy to see my favorites at least make cameos.

This book was all about Being different.

{book:Born of Night] and [b:Born of Fire|3246224|Born of Fire (The League, #2)|Sherrilyn Kenyon|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1327886842s/3246224.jpg|3280979] were both about guys who had shitty childhoods, were tortured, falsely accused, and seriously damaged. So what Kenyon decides to do in this book is make a guy who had a shitty childhood, was tortured, falsely accused, and damaged, but who then turned into a PRINCE. Yes, ladies, a PRINCE. And the woman he meets...A PRINCESS.

All in all that is about the only difference between this book and books 1 & 2. Kinda disappointing yet expected. These books are proving to be extremely formulaic but that's what sells, and hell I did still enjoy it ok.

The only part of the formula I don't like is how in every book that 2 main characters manage to meet another character who should be a stranger but ends up being a long long something - be it family member, ex lover, whatever. I mean come on...all the worlds in this universe and the one person they are looking for always turns out to be the one person they never thought they would see. Blah. It's a plot device that is just way overused in this series.

The plot in this book revolved entirely around political intrigue that in the end turned out way to convoluted and twisted. It all just became unbelievable in the end. The motive was there but I just didn't buy that the villain was smart enough to pull it off.

Finally I just never connected with the characters. Caillum was a good man but his arrogance and womanizing at the beginning was such a turn off that I just never could get into him. And Desideria's emotional issues weren't over the top like past main characters which was more believable but I just didn't like her. Not even sure why because I feel like I should have!

In the end, you just aren't always going to like every book in a series, and this wasn't bad or anything...just fell a bit short is all.

I love Sherrilyn Kenyon's books, there has not been a single one I have not liked. And when it comes to the League books they just keep getting better and better.

I was excited to get into this book, especially after the previous was so epic. This one was amazing, but it wasn't on the same level.

Caillen Dagan, Shahara's brother, is struggling to help his family earn enough to live and trying to protect his youngest sister. When protecting her goes wrong, his life completely changes. Desideria is a royal and a warrior on a female-dominated planet. When an attack against her queen goes wrong, her and Caillen are blamed and sent on the run, together.

This was a great read, and a good addition to the series, but it did not live up to the level of the previous book. The last one raised the bar so high it was nearly impossible to reach. This book isn't anything to bat an eye at, however. It was still incredibly well-written and continued to expand on this incredible universe Kenyon has created. This book actually went more into detail on the Andarion race, which is similar to vampires, without the blood drinking. It was interesting to learn more about the Andarions and their culture. This book also opened up about Desideria's own country, and their culture and beliefs. That was interesting to read about because she comes from a planet that is Matriarchal, and therefore has very different customs than many other countries. The Tavali, space pirates, was also expanded and explained in this book.

This book was really incredible, but focused more on expanding the universe than the characters. Which is why this book wasn't as good as the previous two. Though it is still an incredible book, it really could have used another hundred pages. It was really awesome to learn more about the universe, and I thoroughly enjoyed reading about those!

This was a great read and a good addition to this series, but it could have been a little better. It wasn't anything horrible, in fact it is still one of the better books I have read, it just could have been a little longer. Which says a lot about this book, usually I want books to be shorter, but this one is so good I wish the book was longer!

Audiobook (Libby) - such an amazing story full of betrayals, assassinations, traders, and enemies to lovers.
So glad that neither Desi’s mom nor Caillen’s father were murdered because that would have been a horrid ending no matter their love for each other. Love that her mother shows emotions at the end and that Desi and Caillen get a baby.
