Auch bis ganz zum Schluss hat mich das Buch überzeugt, die Handlung wurde zwar etwas melancholisch aber das hat der Qualität des Romans keinen Abbruch getan.
Das Ende hat mich etwas nachdenklich und traurig gestimmt, war aber alles in allem vermutlich ziemlich realistisch.
Ellies und Bonnys Geschichte, die Entwicklung der beiden Persönlichkeiten und ihrer Freundschaft fand ich ungemein faszinierend!
Die Zustände während der vierziger Jahre, besonders während des Krieges, sind realistisch geschildert und kaum romantisiert.
Alles in allem ein durchaus empfehlenswertes Buch :)

I love everyone of Lesley's books and Ellie was just as terrific, a great friend/family saga story full of intrigue and emotion. 5 stars!
