Well I did it Isa! And it was good! Not how I expected but definitely a nice breath of fresh air. I can’t wait to see what comes next! Like you said I’m sure it gets better and better the more you read them!

Honestly had a wonderfully inventive story that I enjoyed reading even as an adult. However, while the book does portray its Romani characters sympathetically, the main Romani character we meet is a thief and has special powers that allow him to steal things better which is unfortunately perpetuating one of the many stereotypes the Romani people face.

Imaginative and cute. Weakened at the end (in preparation for a second installment to a series). My eight and eleven-year old will be charmed.

You know, I am always taken in by a gorgeous cover and there’s one cover of The Cabinet Of Wonders by Marie Rutkoski that is particularly lovely and that I keep on looking at. It’s not the one in this review, but this one. After seeing the awesome steampunk looking creatures, reading some great reviews on various blogs, and seeing that it has Cat’s stamp of approval, I just had to read The Cabinet Of Wonders, the first of The Kronos Chronicles, but of course because it’s sort of old and I don’t have a review copy, the only way I could read it without guilt was via audiobook.

omg i loved this book... prob in my top 10. The charaters are sooo real and charming. Also, each(well...most) have their own ,agical power. The mian charaet's is the power to think and control medal. It is the same power as her father. I van't wait to read the second book. Judging by the synopsis the prince comes after her family because Petra and her friend Neel steal from the princes most valuable poseciions and then destrpoy parts of the castle.

I read this a few years ago in middle school, and I remember loving all the characters and being wrapped up in this magical world that enthralled me to my core. I was never a 'series' book kind of reader, but this trilogy was an exceptional exception. I really need to reread this story (and possibly order my own copies of these books) and I recommend it to people who like strong female protagonists, adventure, magic, and are intrigued by the idea of magical mechanical spider. (That lil guy was probably one of my favorite things about this series)

this probably wouldnt have been a book i wouldve read on my own from the synopsis, but my brother had loaned it to me because he thought id end up liking it.

i am very glad i have read this book, it definitely wasnt one of my favorites but the writing was so well done that i enjoyed this book more and more as i went. i would definitely recommend this book to everyone as so few books nowadays are written with such captivating detail. i love the research the author put into this piece with the historical parts and how she crafted her own story from it all. glad this book was my final read of 2020!

Despite my initial efforts to get into the story and understand the rules and setting of the world, I really enjoyed this book. The story was fascinating, full of interesting concepts and ideas. The characters, especially Petra, could've used a little more depth but seeing as this is only the first book in the series I hope we'll see more conflict later on.
