I was extremely interested in the beginning but then as more characters got introduced the 3rd person writing got kinda muddy and confusing (spoilers ahead lol)

I can personally forgive the insta love or whatever bc they were gonna be married anyways

Amazing and I loved it!
This might be my new Favorite Katee Robert’s book!!

I’d never read a Mafia romance book before, but I can’t wait to devour this whole series. The characters are emotional and complex! They each have so many internal battles along with the War that is going on. The conflicts between family loyalty, honor, and love are central to this series!

This woman can write fantastic smut but this book concentrated on the plot! The sexy times were more of the side dishes and desserts compared to the main course! Granted they were HOT and well written. They will leave you blushing and fanning yourself!☺️

I just feel this is one of the author’s best stories!

This book does what it sets out to do. It’s exactly what you would expect from an organized crime boss romance. I wish we could have gotten to know some of the other O’Malley family members more to connect more with the book. It was an enjoyable enough book, but nothing to write home about.

I feel really bad for rating this one star but I just didn't like it. I couldn't connect with any of the characters and the story. For a story about mafias, it wasn't vile enough for me. I needed a nastier world. Plus there's insta-love and I'm really iffy when it comes to that so that's another reason why I could not like this. Sorry not sorry.

I listened to the first two books 5 years ago and it’s a series I’ve always wanted to come back to.

I really liked this one. Robert introduces three major Boston crime families: O’Malley, Sheridan, & Halloran. Focusing mostly on the youngest generation (18-early 30s) and how they are preparing to take leadership of the various organizations. Some reluctantly, some with gusto, and some with the intent to go legit.

It’s a LOT of worldbuilding and could have easily become overwhelming - but Roberts adeptly weaves multiple intriguing plots and storylines together for an audio I loved listening to. While the main focus is on the arranged marriage of Teague O’Malley and Callista Sheridan, the side characters get a significant amount of perspective time. It’s definitely instalove for Teague and Callie, but they’re so perfect for each other that I completely bought into a foreseeable forever for them.

There’s a suspense/action element I also enjoyed, particularly the youngest Halloran determination to prove himself by causing a significant amount of trouble between the families.

As there are still 5 more O’Malley siblings - this is definitely going to be a hefty, but not protracted series. I’m definitely looking forward to James and Carrigan’s book next.

Narration:
I love Charlotte North’s narration. She has this gentle Boston accent that keeps the listener firmly planted in the area without being too much. She has a huge cast of characters to work with between the siblings of all the families (and their parents, associates, etc) and gives unique & consistent voices to all of them. Such an easy performance to listen to.
