Very good book, and as usual I did not figure out who was the killer. Curiosity killed the cat, sometime satisfaction does not bring him back.
I did not find this boo to be scary at all. Actually, I was hoping for some really scary scenes. I think it take a lot to scare me. I had not favorite character, in fact the protagonist was somewhat irritating at time. Over all I still enjoyed the story.

No idea how to rate this... the end came too fast and was underwhelming, it was very repetitive, the characters were all flat af, and it wasn't as scary as I thought it would be... Also the constant ominuous foreshadowing at the end of every chapter, the character saying he had no idea how wrong he was to look forward to living in the house, how bad things would get, over and over and over again, and for what? The Big Scary Thing that drove them from the house was bland and underwhelming. If this is one of the author's best I don't think I want to keep reading his stuff, but will probably give Last Time I Lied a go.
It's been awhile since I've read this and I'm knocking it down one star from my original four because I didn't like the end. This book does a great job at creating a spooky atmosphere, however the big reveal at the end was just a wee bit ridiculous.
The ending felt anti-climactic and I felt like the actual living human beings would have been caught a lot sooner. I enjoyed thinking that it was a ghost story, I enjoyed thinking it was a thrilling mystery, I was getting some Hill House vibes.
Alas, it wasn't ghosts causing havoc.
