The prose itself is honestly bad in the first half - clunky dialogue and overly metaphorical descriptions. It gets a little better in the second half; I wonder if this wasn’t an early novel that got taken out of the trunk. Also, I guessed the twist about a third of the way into the book, and if you - like me - like fair play mysteries, it’s absolute BS. I really only kept reading because I love closed circle mysteries enough to read some terrible books about them.

This was my first book by Alice Feeney and it won’t be my last!!

I loved it, all of it!! The family drama the spoiled and entitled characters fighting over who gets what when their Nana passes and then they all start dropping like flies?! SAY LESS!! I loved the poem, reminded me of Freddy Krueger—perfect for spooky season!! And that TWIST at the end!!!!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Love me a locked door thriller!! This one was fantastic and I can’t wait to read more from this author!!

I read this book in one day. It captured my attention on the first line, and I could not put it down. The twist in this book was so crazy.
As I was reading, I thought the killer was corner or Daisy, but then they kept ignoring her, so I had the passing thought of is Daisy dead cause why are they completely ignoring her? I never thought she would actually be dead. I also had a passing thought about Nana being alive, but I never guessed that Trixie was part of it.
. Now I want to reread the book and see if there were any clues that I missed.

It feels fitting that I finished this book on Halloween.
It's a great mystery in the style of And Then There Were None (Agatha Christie). And I did not expect the ending, but in a good way. Very spooky read.
