Because You’re Mine is a complete standalone in a series. But is recommended to read in order.

Tropes:
Mafia Romance

Catalina grew up in the mafia world. When dark secrets came out about her family, she knew she wanted no parts in that life.

Lorenzo is mysterious. Tall dark and handsome. But he has too many secrets.

Cat is a ballet dancer. Living her life away from her mafia family. When going to a college course in place of her sister. She meets Lorenzo. There is instant attraction, chemistry, and snarky banter between them. But the closer they get their secrets start to unravel. And someone from the past comes back for revenge.

I love everything mafia and Because you’re mine was such a good read. I loved the twists and turns. The lies and revenge. The action and plot. And the steamy romance between the characters. I especially love the character and relationship building, and connection between Lorenzo and Cat. This was my first book from Claire Contreras and it definitely won’t be the last!

It feels like I’ve been on a Mafia kick lately. And I’m all for it.
Honestly, there was just something about this book that drew me in. I was hooked from the moment that I opened my Kindle app. I came upon this book by chance. I was in a bit of a funk, and didn’t know what to read. So I went to KU and picked a book from an author that I liked.
We meet Catalina Masseria, a woman that is fleeing from all that her family is - which is corruption. She’s literally a Mafia Princess, yet she hides it. And she has very good reasons for running away from her father and that life. Yet, along comes Lorenzo Costello - and he blows all of her plans out of the water - literally. He plants himself into her life, an doesn’t give her a choice. He shows up, and like a wrecking ball - destroys her plans for her what she wanted in her life.
I loved their chemistry - because it was immediate. And it was explosive. The level of hotness that was in the book is indescribable.
I loved everything about this book. From the storyline to the characters. How fast and hard they fell for each other. Loren couldn’t seem to stay away from Cat, and like a moth to a flame, she was equally drawn to him.
I absolutely loved their journey. Even though they had their struggles, they grew as individuals and as a couple. I loved that Loren was willing to do anything to protect Cat and to give her what she needed and wanted. He was quite literally - swoon worthy. He was just the right amount of Alpha, and cocky. But with enough romance - in his own way to give to Cat. He knew what he wanted and was willing to go after it, regardless of he consequence.
As for Cat, I loved how loyal she was. Everything was about her family, always her sister, and obviously trying to find her mother. But she was also perfect for Loren. She was exactly what he needed in his life.
I’m kind of hesitant to start the next book in the series, but I know that I want to. I just don’t know if I’m ready to dive back into that world. I’ll eventually get to it. Because that’s the thing about Claire’s books, they draw you in and are so addicting. But are so intense.

I guess the premise wasn’t bad and the characters were good but it felt like the plot was underdeveloped. It felt like I needed more background for the characters/ plot and a better understanding of their motivations.

Solid 3⭐️ read!
While this book was not AMAZING it was a good quick read.

Things I liked about the book:
~ I love everything mafia and this book was full of it. I enjoyed how the mafia aspect in this book was internally based looking at conflicts within a singular organization with hints of different mafia organizations to be seen in future books.
~ I really enjoyed how a big aspect of this book included dance and specifically ballet the way this was represented was really interesting and kept me reading.
~ I also liked how there was a little bit of mystery which kept me guessing about what was going to happen.
~ the book was also pretty fast paced so I never got bored because something was always happening.
~ the writing quality in this book was pretty good there were only two things I didn’t like about it but that’s probably just in my opinion.
~ I really like how Catalina was a strong character and really stuck to who she was even after everything she went through and how she just consistently had a good heart.

Things I didn’t love about the book:
~ one thing that I didn’t love about the book was that Lorenzo and Catalina’s relationship was sorta insta love (which I hate) with a whole lot of insta attraction.
~ I also didn’t like the way that he treated her and talked to her the first day of class. Like he’s her potential professor and he says he doesn’t want to let her into the class because he wants to fuck her (the first time they meet). Ummmmm So yea I didn’t like that.
~ I didn’t enjoy the excessive amount of cheating in this book. And yes I understand it’s a mafia book and there’s a lot of cheating in the mafia world but still it was a giant part of the main plot and was looked past in some scenarios where is shouldn’t have been.

There is probably more I wanna say but I forget and I’m tired so That’s all for now!

DNF.

Not for me, idk the beginning just didn’t grab my attention.
