Family Tree has always provided a unique combination of horror and family drama. It’s what made the series stand out in the first place. Yet there’s no denying that the balance between the two has shifted over the course of the last several issues.
Now, it almost feels like everything shifted back, with the focus turning squarely on the family. And the potential horror they’re about to unleash on a mostly unsuspecting world.
Created by Jeff Lemire, Phil Heter, Eric Gapstur, and Ryan Cody, Family Tree is one of those series that defies definitions while breaking ground left and right (pun intended). The real question is, where will the series take us before it all wraps up?

Wow. What a comic! Meg reveals that she will save the world to her mother. We also get to see the reunion between father and daughter, which is so lovely. I’m glad that they don’t have to be alone in this complicated scenario.
Josh witnesses Judd’s death. The police arrest him soon after, and he can’t explain what is going on. Meanwhile, the doctor dies trying to protect Megan. Megan declares that it is time, and the pollen from her leaves release, causing everyone not wearing a mask/suit to turn into trees. Here we see the beginning of the end of the world.
I’m speechless. So much happens in so few pages, but it hit me right in the feels. We know that Josh is working alone in the future, so I’m curious what happens to Loretta? Maybe she goes crazy; the circumstances certainly justify it. As per usual, I will try to wait patiently for the next issue to find out what happens next!
