A fitting end for the series, albeit a pretty long winded one.

This is not a good book.

It is not good subjectively (unsatisfying, tedious, and dull).

It is not good objectively (sloppy writing, self-obsessed, and excessively drawn out).

If you care to find out the “secrets” of Hyperion, I strongly suggest you save yourself the time and read the wiki rather than this drivel.

I regret wasting my time.

I'm feeling things, I just don't know what

This novel was a challenge, and is my first DNF in years, though I toughed it out to the two-thirds mark.

It's a systematic unraveling of everything about the first two books that was compelling, wondrous and interesting, accomplished through endless exposition dumps and self-congratulatory philosophizing. It's boring, unsubtle and you would be better served reading a summary if you need closure that badly. Or just stop at book 2.

Relationship ick for Raul and Aenea.

This book ended the Hyperion sequence on a high note. I don't feel like it was the weirdest at all. In fact, I think these last two were the best of the bunch.
medium-paced

Fitting end to the saga. Not my favorite in the series, but it does a good job coming to a conclusion. Parts of it felt more dry than precious books - but I can’t quite put my finger on why I think this.

Her age is so not important, so I don’t like the age gap.
