Well, I’ll admit that this book did take me a LONG time to actually read it. I kept starting it and leaving it and then being distracted and then eventually returning etc. So I’m pleased to say I gave finally finished reading it.

Now, one of the main reasons for taking so long to read this, is because I have watched all of the episodes of Game of Thrones since the beginning. So when reading the books, it’s harder to concentrate and be engaged because you kind of know what’s going to happen from start to finish. BUT, there are a few changes and additions in this book which makes it worthwhile to read.

I did really enjoy this book, and I look forward to reading the rest, especially knowing they get a lot darker and there are so much more changes to read than what they did for the series on TV.

I cannot begin to explain the amount of detail that has gone into these books that I’ve read so far, it’s crazy. George R R Martin is an absolute genius, and I am a massive fan.
For this, I do understand why it’s taken him such a long time to finish and release “The Winds of Winter” and “A Dream of Spring”. Considering they will be the final stages of this story, I’m sure the action is jam packed and super descriptive. Gotta give this guy some serious credit for what he’s done in creating this immersive and complex world.

I can’t wait to start the next books in the series, and this time around I won’t take as long. My reading goal this year is to be serious and I want to be able to read at LEAST a book a month, if not more. So I’m sure I shall be fine!

A cracking book, and if you’ve not read it, you definitely should. Even if like me, you did watch the series first. It’s worth it for the tiny details that have been overlooked and missed on TV.

Epic.
