Meh.

I really enjoyed this one! Synopsis boiled down: Scarlett Witch has the power to alter reality and suffers a mental break after killing three avengers. In her state, she rewrites reality....

I love seeing updated or more contemporary stories in the marvel universe. I can connect with the art (and thus the story) better which makes the story have a bigger punch. House of M is definitely a comic that deals with superheroes, but at its core it’s a comic that looks at human emotion and it does an exceptional job at it.

Messier and more bloated than I remember, but “The House of M” is still an exciting read. Definitely pick it up if you’re jonesin’ for a great story and want to understand the inspiration for Wandavision.

So, I read this because I know the the WandaVision TV show was based on this comic.  Well... after about page 4, there were no more similarities at all.  Overall it was an okay read, though I haven’t read any of the comics leading up to this one, so I was a bit lost.

Imma level with you, I read this because of the WandaVision show--and it has the essential essence of the show (Wanda snapping and changing her reality) but otherwise it is absolutely different from the show.

The show is quirky, interesting, definitely doesn't have as many heavy hitters as this comic book (can you IMAGINE? Uuuuf that would cost so much money just to get all those peeps together). This comic was interesting and raised some valid points--mainly that Scarlet changed the world to make it perfect for all the mutants, and yet the mutants are trying to put everything back to the way it was because... who knows. Them being a bunch of goodie two shoes.

I liked the writing and even the art--not too polished but polished enough. I am curious what exactly goes after this? If anybody can comment with that tidbit I'd be eternally grateful.

Standout character: for me, it was Emma Frost, she is such a badass! Kind of want to read more comics with her as the MC.

2.5 stars. I saw this mentioned multiple times alongside WandaVision so picked it up hoping to get more back story. Although there's similar elements to the show and I was able to follow along for the most part, I think that the previous issues of both Avengers and X-Men stories need to be read to have a full understanding of what's going on. My low rating reflects my own reading experience and not the quality of the story itself. 100% think I would've enjoyed it more had I been more familiar with everyone's storylines before going into House of M.
