A very promising beginning but after childhood it's a story about a person who doesn't do any prior research and tries to win contests just to prove that he is different from everyone else. And that you can push your body as long as you have mental strength, even after 2 heart attacks? I would say it's some bad advice. Also, the author is using sexist slur a lot.
I have gathered everything I need from the book, and trying to finish it just feels forceful.

A great message... that could have been delivered in half the pages. I don't want this review to be taken as me taking anything away from what Goggins has accomplished- his accomplishments and ethics are absolutely "uncommon among the uncommon." However, reading his story felt like running that Hurt 100 with a drill sergeant lauding his own accomplishments while bearing down on your heels. The challenges posed to the reader at the end of each chapter are great exercises but feel like an afterthought to make the reader feel like they're getting something out of it they can take home. I don't regret reading it at all, there were some great nuggets, but I can't say I found it overwhelmingly inspiring or that I would recommend it to others.

A fascinating look at what makes David tick, how he keeps fighting when everything is against him. I've heard complaints about the language and yes, he is clear, vulgar, and straight forward, but seriously, why are you reading this book if language offends you? Crawl back under your blanket of protection and let the wolves have the world.
