Second time read, I enjoy the Goggins mindset and I read this book to kick off the new year. I think it was more impactful to me during the first read; there wasn’t as much juice to squeeze (for me) in a second read. Love the story though and the Goggins mindset has its place for sure.

Although the message is inspiring and im all for pushing your limits in every single part of life I did not enjoy the military highlight as only a way to push your physical limits. I am not a fan of mostly US military, so it became hard to connect to that part of the story. Plus this type of life is not sustainable to anyone. The book was also not the best written and the chapters were sometimes confusing in its order.
Incredible book.
It was even better to listen to the audio version with David’s comments on each chapter.
A book to go back to regularly.

This book should be considered required reading as a man. There's aren’t a lot of public figures Men can look to for positive core values that don’t dip into misogyny. But Goggins manages to give us a pure guideline on how to face challenges and overcome them while also respecting the feelings that arise in adversity. As he stares repeatedly, this is not a motivational book although you may get motivated, this book is about accountability and grit. And if you are trying to become your best self this is for you.
