This Beauty and the Beast adaptation wasn’t bad but it wasn’t amazing either. A great twist on the marriage of convenience trope - I loved that both MCs were deceiving each other. There were a few things that brought the rating down: the shifts between moods were quite abrupt at times and as a result the story progression did not always flow well. Some parts and characterizations were a bit over the top. The fallout between Rafe and Thea was not unexpected (knowing the usual storyline for romance novels) but that too felt a bit sudden and stilted. And then there was the way the storyline with Thea's parents was resolved, or not resolved, between the story and the epilogue.
But overall, an entertaining read.

This was another fabulous book by Vincy. Reading Thea and Rafe on page is just pure delight and her prose is just so goddamn beautiful. I also literally laughed out loud a bunch of times.
What makes this not a 5 star read for me were two things:
1. I felt the backstory behind Rafe’s secret pain tended to overshadow the romance.
2. I needed more of the good family memories Thea had that was shared in the 3rd act earlier so that I would’ve been more invested in her desire to get accepted by them again.
I still loved this book and loved Thea and Rafe.
