Wat een vreemd boek. Ik kan helaas niet meer zeggen dan dat. Ook mooi dat je dus al weet dat de ouders toch weer bij elkaar komen gegeven dat ze in het begin, oud en gerimpeld, op vakantie zijn, samen. Ach ja. Mooie tekenstijl, dat weer wel.

'Glorious Summers' by Zidrou with art by Jordi Lafebre is a graphic novel about nostalgic family vacations.
The Faldérault family needs a vacation. Father is working too hard at trying to have a hit graphic novel series, and mother is thinking about leaving father altogether. The trip is delayed due to one of father's work deadlines, but it's finally time to hit the road. The seven family members (and one large imaginary friend), pile in the family car and head for the sun. With a compass that lies, and a group of Dutch tourists that steal the best picnic spot, there is lots of fun to be had. Mother and father may even remember each other along the way.
I really liked this slice of life graphic novel. The plot has some heavy elements, but they are handled really well. I cared about the things these characters were going through. The art was nice too.

Uma viagem aos verões da infância, acompanhando uma família que se parece mais com a que construí do que com aquela de onde venho... Estupidamente comecei a série pelo livro 2, que adorei.
Mas se dei 5 estrelas este merece pelo menos 5 estrelas e meia!

Que delícia de livro!
Na edição portuguesa, os 2 primeiros volumes num só.
Aqueles verões nostálgicos cheios de peripécias, com muitas horas de viagem e toda a tralha para acampar com os miúdos. Aqui vemos as férias da família belga Faldérault que trabalha todo o ano para poderem ir de férias.
Esta série não segue a cronologia e saltita entre os anos 1962 e 1980, onde acompanhamos o casal e os filhos em diversas idades e ao som dos êxitos musicais desses anos.
Com argumento divertido de Zidrou e os desenhos num belo traço do Jordi Lafebre, viajamos até à época dos longos verões sem tecnologia e com os carros atulhados de malas.
Ainda tenho mais 2 livros para ler. Vale a pena ver!

Gostei bastante! A primeira história é mais real, no sentido em que os problemas não deixam de existir só porque vamos de férias. A segunda tem um tom mais leve e feliz, mas não me tocou no coração como a primeira. O traço é muito bonito e as cores são fenomenais, especialmente na diferença entre a noite escura e o dia solarengo. O humor é outro ponto forte da BD, para além da dinâmica familiar que derrete qualquer pedra. Espero pelo próximo volume!

A nostalgia particular das memórias familiares - porque estas tendem a guardar melhor o que é bom e a esbater o pior - é a temática desta fábula com travo de clássico instantâneo. As páginas e os painéis são típico franco-belga, mas matizados pela tipologia das memórias emocionais, as personagens são desenhadas com traços seguros que em muito facilitam a tarefa de as diferenciar.
Parece simplista. (Certamente não temos páginas de adensada reflexão existencial ou minimalismos armados ao pingarelho na sua flagrante falta de substância.) As homenagens a pessoas e a imaginários comuns, as alusões a eventos que marcam épocas, tudo isto com a sofrósina de quem sabe ao que vai e se limita a pontuar a linha geral com o mundo em redor... é uma raridade. Venham daí os demais volumes!
