The most boring book I ever(tried to) read. Didn't finish it, which never happens tp me. I feel slightly disppointed that I couldn't finish/like such a highly-praised classic. But I never force myself to read anything, especially classics. With so many books to read, I wouldn't go back to this one for decades.
adventurous medium-paced

An ancient book that proves difficult to read. The idea is interesting, but is mediocre at best when compared with modern books. Can be valuable from a historical or literary perspective.

Masterly in the parts with criticism on general human situations. Refreshing satire. The story of the giant in Lilliputians country has become a bit tiresome, but that is more compensated by the last story.

mierdón

First time I actually read (well, listened to) all four stories. That end is MESSED UP.

For an abridged copy, it is not bad, but this version eliminates most of Swift's satire and humour in favour of a simple adventure story. It also only includes the first two voyages, so the rest of the book goes unremarked on.

This is essentially four books in one based on Gulliver's travels through four different lands and his experiences there. Lilliput has tiny people, Brobdingnag has huge people, Laputa is a floating island, Houynhnmland has horses with great virtues. In each Swift portrays another side of the human condition and political and religious conflicts and hypocrisies. The footnotes Swift provides add context to the varies points and makes the satire all the more poignant and amusing.
