I preordered this book, but didn't read it until now. It wasn't a case of the never-ending-TBR-pile, though that certainly factored in. Instead, I was hesitant to read this book because I knew I would cry my way through it. Not bad crying. I cry over things I love, things that are beautiful, things that are hard. This memoir is all three of those things and more.

Having now finished the book, I can confirm, I cried on almost every page. There is power in ordinary people saying, "Yes, God, break my heart for what breaks your heart." Miracles happen when people step forward in faith even when the path is scary and the next steps seem impossible. And there is beauty in allowing God to pick up the pieces this sin-filled world leaves broken and allowing him to make something new.

If you want a simply-told, heartfelt remembrance of the journey to making a family through birth, adoption, and foster care ... this is a book for you. But you've been warned. If you're anything like me, there will be tears.
